How to read the indicators

Plain definitions, published so you can hold us to them.

Crop health

0–100 score comparing vegetation vigour across monitored cane fields with the historical norm for the same date. 50 is normal; above 60 is stronger than usual; below 45 signals stress.

Soil moisture

Root-zone water availability from 0 (wilting point) to 100 (field capacity). Stress is high below 35 and moderate below 55. Low readings are normal from June to September.

Fire activity

Active-fire detections inside monitored cane areas over the last 7 days, compared with the normal for the same week. Risk rises with unusual detections or very dry soils.

Harvest progress

Estimated share of the season’s cane already harvested. The Center-South harvest runs from April to December; the season is named for the years it spans (e.g. 2026/27).

LAKAY supply signal

Our summary flag. It moves to Watch or Tight only when conditions are abnormal for the time of year — weak crop health, a rainfall deficit in the wet season, severe dryness or unusual fire activity.

Built on public Earth-observation and climate records — Copernicus Sentinel-1 and -2, Landsat and INPE fire monitoring — processed and quality-checked by LAKAY.
